Based on Hector Hectorson’s Hell on Rails Extreme Guide.
Pre-positions
- Single Spread positions
- Pair Positions - try to stay in quadrants
- Big Spreads:

Phase 1
- Dead Man’s Overdraught: 4 Orbs - Pairs | 8 Orbs - Spread
- Dead Man’s Express:
- Knockback! Dodge where the laser ground lasers wouldn’t hit you.
- Stored pairs/spread hits a short time after the knockback.
- Dead Man’s Overdraught: 4 Orbs - Pairs | 8 Orbs - Spread
- Dead Man’s Windpipe:
- Knockback towards the boss.
- Stored pairs/spread hits a short time after the knockback.
- Unlimited Express: Raidwide, phase change. Mitigate.
Phase 2
- Short downtime in the beginning.
- Dead Man’s Overdraught: 4 Orbs - Pairs | 8 Orbs - Spread
- Turret Crossing: Turrets will spawn on both sides of the arena.
- The glowing side will glow, hide behind walls.
- Dead Man’s Express:
- Dodge lasers first, then dodge the laser before the knockback happens.
- Go into spread/pairs from Overdraught.
- Dead Man’s Overdraught: 4 Orbs - Pairs | 8 Orbs - Spread. Will be opposite than the first one.
- Turrets will begin to glow.
- Lightning Burst: Double AoE Tankbusters. Mitigate lightly (Rampart) as there are many incoming.
- Dodge turrets first, then tankbusters.
- Turrets will begin to glow.
- Dead Man’s Windpipe:
- Dodge lasers first, then position for knockback, then position for pair/spreads.
- Unlimited Express: Raidwide, phase change. Mitigate.
Phase 3
- Lightning Burst: Double AoE Tankbusters. Mitigate lightly (Rampart).
- Runaway Train: Add Phase
- Kill orb in the middle.
- Inner Ghost Train: Sends out cleaving AoEs over tanks. MT go left and OT go right. Use short CDs.
- Outer Doom Train:
- Listen to train whistle, then it will send attack with visual and audio cues.
- 2 cues: 3-man stacks. North-south of orb.
- 3 cues: Spread. - Healer and M1 between tanks, the rest spread on other side. Ranged far away from tanks.
- Resolution process:
- Ghost Train spins.
- Listen to Doom Train whistle and cues.
- Wait for Ghost Train to stop.
- Position relative to the Ghost Train for Doom Train mechanics.
- Mitigate for phase change raid wide.
- Boss grows arm and sends out an un-telegraphed raid-wide at the same time.
- Lightning Burst: Double AoE Tankbusters. Healers beware as tanks may be low on CD.
- Derailment Siege: 3-time repeated tower stack. Mitigate lightly and heal.
- Derail: Boss is about to suplex the platform. Run to the teleporter at the end of the platform to move off it.
Phase 4
- Immediately stack up in a corner of the platform.
- Wait for the boss to Snap its fingers, then run away from the corner as AoEs will pop up under where the players were when the Snap happened. (Twister)
- Watch boss telegraphs, up or down can happen first. Then dodge one then another.
- Arcane Revelation:
- Split party with melees on northeast platform and ranged on southeast platform.
- Lightning circle from Normal Mode will spawn.
- A random tank and healer will get a stack debuff - these are delayed damage stack.
- Boss raises hands and slowly moves them together.
- Lightning circle can move 2, 3, or 4 times.
- There is an audio cue of “lasers” signifying the last movement of the lightning circle.
- Each Light Party need to get to the safe spot left behind by the lightning circle as the each party stack is big.
- Stack markers will only count with people on the same elevation.
- Each party reset to platforms.
- Dodge lightning circle and stack with party again.
- Note for when the lightning circle in front: Melee party can stay on a small sliver of the platform to dodge it.
- 3 cycles of Arcane Revelation total.
- Boss will be casting up-down/down-up telegraphs. Dodge those.
- Stack into a group or two and watch the boss as it snaps its fingers. Once it does, move away from the stack positions to dodge the Twisters.
- Lightning Burst: Double AoE Tankbusters.
- Derailment Siege: 3-time repeated tower stack. Mitigate lightly and heal. Optionally, a tank can invuln this stack.
- Derail: Boss is about to suplex the platform. Run to the teleporter at the end of the platform to move off it.
Phase 5
- Psychokinesis:
- Boss will clear some boxes off the platform and cast AoEs on 2 party members.
- One AoE top left, one AoE top right, and the rest of the party move into a safe spot wherever the box was removed.
- Stay in place and wait for the snap, then dodge Twisters.
- Psychokinesis 2:
- More boxes are removed. 3 AoEs will spawn.
- One AoE top left, one AoE top right, one AoE away.
- Try to give melee uptime.
- Lightning Burst: Double AoE Tankbusters.
- If one of the tank was with the party, let the tank go to the corner of the platform.
- Psychokinesis 3:
- More boxes are removed. 5 AoEs will spawn.
- Move into Big Spread positions.
- Stay in place as the AoE goes off.
- Wait for the boss to Snap its fingers, then dodge between the players to avoid the Twisters.
- Derailment Siege: 4-time repeated tower stack. Mitigate lightly and heal. Optionally, a tank can invuln this stack.
- Derail: Boss is about to suplex the platform. Run to the teleporter at the end of the platform to move off it.
Phase 6 - Final Phase
- Dead Man’s Overdraught: 4 Orbs - Pairs | 8 Orbs - Spread
- Turret Crossing: Turrets will spawn on both sides of the arena.
- Turrets will glow.
- Boss will begin telegraphing up-down. Down is safe first.
- Turrets shoot.
- Wait for the up attack from the boss.
- Dodge the down attack from the boss.
- Turrets will glow but stay up to dodge the attack. The boxes on the bottom will be removed before the turret fires.
- Psychokinesis: 4 AoEs
- Dodge into Big Spread positions.
- Stay still until the boss snaps.
- Dodge the Twisters.
- Left turrets will glow - You must stay behind the raised platform.
- Dead Man’s Express/Windpipe: Dodge knockback accordingly.
- Go into pair/spread positions to resolve stored Dead Man’s Overdraught.
- Lightning Burst: Double AoE Tankbusters.
- Dead Man’s Overdraught: 4 Orbs - Pairs | 8 Orbs - Spread. Doing the opposite.
- Arcane Revelation: Going to be execute twice. Resolve similarly to before.
- Ranged can stay on the left platform as there is a tiny sliver to stand on while dodging the lightning circle.
- Stand still after 2nd Arcane Revelation until the boss snaps. Dodge the Twisters.
- Dead Man’s Express/Windpipe: Opposite of before. Dodge knockback and lasers accordingly.
- Go into spread/pair right after this.
- Boss will do up-down/down-up attack.
- Lightning Burst: Double AoE Tankbusters.
- Dodge the Snap Twisters.
- Derailment Siege: 6-time repeated tower stack. Mitigate lightly and heal.
- Derail: Boss is about to suplex the platform. Kill the boss or be suplexed.
